March 19 2023. Our project was featured in the Tanzanian Times Majira newspaper during the implementation of clean-ups in Ilemela Municipal at Mwanza City Council at Lake Victoria.

In the article, Nyabugumba Jonathan, the Environmental Officer of Ilemela Municipal, urged the residents of Ilemela to have a culture of cleaning their surroundings, stating that "Niwajibu wetu sisi wananchi sio mpaka serikali itusimamie wapo mawakala katika maeneo yetu lakini na sisi tuna wajibu wa kufanya katika utunzaji wa mazingira" (trans: It is our responsibility, we the citizens, to take care of the environment).

Bahati Mayoma, the Assistant Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam and Coordinator of the Clean Shore Great Lakes, also urged the residents along the shores of Lake Victoria to conserve the environment and prevent plastics from ending up in Lake Victoria.

January Lucas, the Chairperson of Fishers at Igombe Landing Site, appreciated the awareness raised about plastics littering in Great Lakes and the recycling demonstration done by Arena Recycling. He pledged to guide Igombe residents and fishers to conserve the environment.
